General questions and answers about hydraulic torque wrenches
Where are hydraulic torque multipliers used?
Hydraulic torque wrenches are used in a variety of applications, especially where high torques are required. The most common areas of application include:
â
Construction and engineering: for tightening screws and bolts on large machines, structures or in shipbuilding.
Automotive: in the assembly of vehicle components, especially for high-performance vehicles.
Power generation: in wind turbines, turbines and other plants where large parts need to be precisely assembled.
Oil and gas: for the assembly of pipelines and other critical.
How does a hydraulic torque wrench work?
The hydraulic torque wrench consists of a hydraulic cylinder connected to an external hydraulic pump. The pump delivers hydraulic fluid under pressure through hoses into the cylinder. This hydraulic pressure is converted into mechanical force, which is used to apply torque to the screw or bolt.
What are the advantages of a hydraulic torque wrench?
High performance: Extremely high torques can be generated by the hydraulics, which would not be achievable manually or by other tools.
Precise control: The hydraulic pressure allows for fine-tuning of the torque, enabling very precise work results.
Safety: The reaction arm and the stabilising function ensure safe working by keeping the tool firmly in position during operation.
