JUWEL ReactionFree-System - Screwing without reaction arm

With the new JUWEL ReactionFree system, you can now screw without reaction arms. When two German companies with in-house production and a commitment to Germany as a production location exchange ideas, something great comes out of it: Thanks to the latest development from HEICO Befestigungstechnik GmbH and a goal-oriented exchange, you can now tighten and loosen screws without a reaction arm using our proven JUWEL power screwdrivers.

Applications where there is no secure reaction point for generating the reaction torque are no longer an obstacle for you: regardless of the drive type (battery, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical), you can now tighten and loosen screws without the use of a support. There are many reasons for using the JUWEL ReactionFree system. Below, you can learn more about the technology, areas of application, and advantages of JUWEL products.

How it works: JUWEL ReactionFree System

The JUWEL ReactionFree system, developed by HEICO, is based on a 2-disc locking system that uses preload force. In line with the wedge locking principle, this prevents the screw connection from loosening on its own.

The outer radial ribs press into the mating material during tightening, while the inner wedge surfaces, which are directed towards each other, ensure that a high preload force is maintained.

The unique design of the reaction washers is characterized by the gear-shaped contour of the lower washer. In combination with a specially developed dual socket, this contour allows the screw connection to be preloaded using standard electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic screwdriving tools from various manufacturers.

This means that even large screw connections can be assembled and disassembled quickly and easily—particularly advantageous for frequently recurring screw connections of the same size.

This means that the tightening torque is transmitted exclusively axially, so that no additional bending moment acts on the screw during tightening. At the same time, the reaction washers ensure reliable and permanent protection against spontaneous loosening due to vibrations or dynamic loads, as typically occur during the operation of machines and systems.

Advantages of reaction-free bolting

There are numerous advantages to reaction-free screw fastening:

  • The reaction discs, which consist of two components, are delivered already glued together in pairs. This means you can get started right away and don't need to make any further preparations before screwing them together.

  • Reaction arms are no longer required for the screw connections, resulting in significant advantages:

    • The torque wrench is lighter and easier to handle without support.

The risk of damage to the torque wrench or the components to be screwed together due to transverse forces is eliminated.

    • Pinched fingers or injuries caused by slipping due to unstable support are now a thing of the past. Thanks to screws without support, the risk of injury is reduced.

    • Costs for specifically manufactured reaction moments are not applicable

    • There is no risk of paint damage caused by the reaction arms coming into contact with support points. This means that the corrosion protection remains intact and there are no visual defects. Repainting after screw connection is no longer necessary.

The screw connection is securely and permanently protected against the screw or nut loosening by itself.

Applications

  • Assembly on painted parts that must not be touched by reaction arms due to the risk of paint chipping (e.g., on road construction machinery, agricultural machinery, or production equipment)

  • Tightening screws without a direct stopping point in the immediate vicinity (assembly of covers or car bodies)

  • Assembly work on components/systems that can quickly warp/jam as a result of transverse forces

  • For overhead work where every gram saved is valuable

  • If the adjacent components that would serve as a support point are not suitable for the load

  • If the risk of injury due to incorrect support needs to be minimized

Technical Data

The JUWEL ReactionFree system can be combined with all JUWEL torque wrenches. In addition, the washers have the following properties:

  • The wedge locking system prevents them from loosening on their own.

  • The washers are made of 1.1191 - C45E with a zinc flake coating.

  • At least 1000 hours of corrosion resistance in the NSS test according to ISO 9227

  • Available in thread sizes from M16 to M48

  • Other thread sizes, materials, or coatings are available on request

About JUWEL

For over 40 years, JUWEL‑Schraubtechnik has been a reliable partner for high-quality torque wrenches and customized accessories. At its factory in Wissen an der Sieg, Rhineland-Palatinate, the family-owned company produces all mechanical components entirely in-house using modern CNC manufacturing. This vertical production chain ensures short delivery times, high flexibility, and individuality—a real competitive advantage.

Their product range is diverse, ranging from mechanical, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic to battery-powered torque wrenches—with torques between 50 and 72,000 Nm. Particularly noteworthy: thanks to the AMP Share system, the battery-powered models offer flexible battery options (up to 12 Ah), automatic torque shut-off, and low-vibration, quiet operation – ideal for industrial assembly.

JUWEL is known for its "premium quality at fair prices." The wrenches are robust, reliable, and designed for tough industrial use—often in service for decades. Maximum precision is ensured by the company's own planetary gears, manufactured in-house since 1980.
